Deysi Zendejas, PsyD

Dr. Deysi Zendejas is a graduate from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. While receiving her Doctorate of Psychology degree (Psy.D.), the emphasis of Dr. Zendejas’ degree was on working with family and couples. Dr. Zendejas is bicultural and bilingual, and is able to provide psychotherapy in both English and Spanish. She is interested in all aspects of Latino psychology as well as working with underserved populations. In addition to her interests in the Latino community and other underserved populations, Dr. Zendejas also has experience serving a wide variety of cultures and ages. Her work involves the integration of all aspects of the individual—mental, emotional, physical, and cultural—in order to assist each individual with developing and maintaining a healthy and whole self. She maintains a firm focus on forming a strong relationship with those she guides through the process of therapy in order to assure a safe journey as they achieve personal growth.

Dr. Zendejas is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Zendejas has a variety of experiences working with issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and crisis as well as working with children with special needs. She has developed a craft in family therapy and understands that an individual can be better understood as a part of a unit, who acts and reacts to both social groups and their surrounding environment based on that unit. Her experiences have allowed her to demonstrate increased flexibility with clients due to the understanding that everyone learns differently and that individuals can hold many different perspectives based on their experiences. As a result, Dr. Zendejas accommodates each individual’s needs by utilizing various techniques such as art, play, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), speaking Spanish or Spanglish, or providing visual handouts. She also incorporates skill building techniques such as assertiveness training, healthy communication skills, and coping strategies—to name a few—to assure the individual has as many tools necessary to get through the day. Dr. Zendejas is passionate about her practice and feels honored when given the opportunity to travel with individuals through the journey of resolution and personal growth.
