Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. The discipline embraces all aspects of the human experience — "the understanding of behavior" is the enterprise of psychologists.
You may be wondering if you need to seek help from a psychologist, or you may just be interested in what psychology is all about. This information will be of interest. The sections in the menu on the left will help answer your questions.
Psychologists have extensive training that is different from that of other mental health professionals. Psychologists have doctoral degrees, and are licensed by the CA Board of Psychology. Psychologists are skilled in the assessment, evaluation, and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and base their therapeutic treatment on the best available research. Psychologists take into account the client's unique values, goals and circumstances when deciding on the best method of treatment. Psychologists work with individuals, families, and organizations and also conduct research on human behavior. Even if you aren't facing any particular challenges right now, Psychologists can play a very important role in healthy, everyday living.
